A Quote To Live By In Your New Year

The largest quote I have in my office reads…
“This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever. In its place is something that you have left behind. Let it be something good.”
It’s a powerful notion, isn’t it? What’s more powerful is the result of someone committing to applying this quote to their daily life and taking a fresh set of 24 hours that seriously.
Well in another “two sleeps” you are going to wake up to this quote being about the beginning of a New Year – a fresh set of 365 days – and you get to literally do whatever you want with it.
What amazing excitement that should bring and what incredible responsibility it carries.
I have no doubt, because you are here, you’ve got a lot to show for 2020 and you’ve left a lot of good behind. Well done.
It’s been a year that most are ready to leave behind and that’s understandable. However, it’s also important to remember that time is all we’ve got and the days and weeks and months and years go by all the same. That’s really why this saying is so meaningful because when you look at your life as a daily exchange of whatever you are doing with whatever else you could be doing and making sure that you are leaving something ‘good’ behind, what you got out of it is even better.
But, rest assured, it’s not going to happen on its own. Nothing does. And the more deliberate and intentional you are about what you want to leave behind in 2021 and what you want 2021 to deliver to you as a result is completely and exclusively up to one single person – you.
To me, that is the most empowering and motivating concept there is – that me, you, us, we have the power to create outcomes, to make a difference, to choose a life.
Most people are burdened, daunted, deterred by this. They look for easy ways out, to displace responsibility, to avoid taking chances, ignoring opportunities, denying themselves of their own potential.
You on the other hand, you do the opposite. And that’s why you have so much to show for, so much to celebrate, so much to be proud of, so much to look back on all that you’ve left behind in 2020.
And now, you get to turn the page, hit the reset button, and start over to the beginning of this new year. As the quotes says, you can waste it or you can use it for good; the difference will be what you decide to do and what you relentlessly pursue that will determine exactly what you will get to reflect on a year from now as to everything that you got out of 2021, all it provided to you, and all you left behind.
I challenge you to dig deep, dream big, and get ready to create the future you want in the year ahead.
Speaking of “two sleeps” another great quote I have that you’ll like and it ties right in…
“Every day you have a choice, sleep in and enjoy your dreams OR wake up and chase them!”
To most their dreams are better in their sleep. To us nothing is better than waking up to our reality because we know it is just a matter of time before we bring our dreams to life.
Make it a Happy New Year!
