Your Attitude About Your Business Matters … A Lot

I’ve been there once too, maybe twice, or even more times. I’ve been doing this a lot longer than you might realize. It happens to every entrepreneur and it is in and of itself a business killer, a prosperity destroyer, a very bad thing to work with let alone live with.

I’m talking about being unmotivated by your own business.

This is probably the biggest problem I see with most business people. It’s that they lose their excitement for what they are doing. Their goals and/or their business are not long inspiring.

When this happens, people have a tendency to look everywhere but in the mirror. They think it is their customers, it’s the economy, it’s the competition, it’s this and that and all these other things when it reality it is not any of them.

It’s You.

You know why…because someone (and maybe many others) in your city doing whatever it is that you do is thriving, very successful, having so much fun and making a lot of money along the way.

So, it can’t be these excuses, it has to be something else.

Here’s the thing, there is no victory that will ever be had from self-pity, you lose by winning that battle against yourself, big time.

The good news is you don’t have to stay stuck, you don’t have to keep living and doing business this way. You can change anything you want at any time you decide.

More often than not, the reason business owners stay stuck at any plateau (even if it is a great big healthy profit plateau) is because it ends the same way, with demoralization, frustration and disappointment into a down and out mentality and a lack of motivation.

They stay stuck because they think they have no choice but to work their way out of the bind, out of the rut, out of the down and out feeling.

I can give you a lot of analogies to this one.

The bottom line is this: just because you have a business that use to be successful doing a, b, c and it no longer is, doesn’t mean you can’t do d, e, and/or f.

You are the boss. Yes, you.

And your business will always be a reflection of your attitude at the present moment.

You know what else will be a reflection of your attitude…

Your employees.
Your customers.
Your opportunities.

Pretty much everything else. You can’t argue with fact. Well, I guess you can and you will stay frustrated forever. Your reality doesn’t make it the actual reality.

Here’s the rather simple moral to this story today, no matter how successful you are or how big a hole you have dug for yourself or if you are somewhere in between – if you are not invigorated by your own business and inspired by your goals, then change something, fast.

Your energy or lack there of will always boomerang back to you in positive or negative form and you will become, as my dear friend Lee Milteer always says, a “self-fulfilling prophecy” – always!

Sometimes you just have to take a stand against yourself, against the past, against your present circumstances and force yourself to drive forward full speed ahead into the future; one that hasn’t been created yet and one that is much more appealing to you than where you are at.

I’ll give you several ways to get there over the next couple weeks – beginning with the 3 most immediate things you can do to reinvigorate life, money, success back into your business and ready for the future and prosperity you deserve.
