Happy Birthday To Me…and You!

Today, I’m working.
As I would imagine most do on their Birthdays.

I am hosting a Client in Nashville for a Business Development and Strategic Planning Blueprint Consulting Day.

And again on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, plus last week a couple times, and yes, all different and new people from literally all over the country.

Because that’s just what I do.

Oh, sure, I’ll celebrate tonight, with my wife at an amazing restaurant, with a little chance to relax, but after all, we do that pretty much every night.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind Birthdays as I see them as a few hours each year to come up for air and pause, stand in the mirror, reflect, and stare yourself in the face and ask this question – “is this really want I want to be doing” – “is this the life I want to be living, business I want to be building” – am I otherwise on the right track for what makes me…happy, as if there were such a thing.

And I guess as long as the answer is yes, then head back down and get to work.

People always ask me during these Consulting Days what I do for fun or in my spare time and I think, hmm, spare time, that’s an odd idea. Sure I have “down time” and “vacation time” and “other time” allocated for things other than the peak money making activities but I would never consider it “spare” and I try to make anything that would look like that as slim as possible.

What I do for “fun” is what I do for “work” and vice versa. Isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be.

Ok, perhaps I beat up the sports analogies so much, but you know, they just make sense. Let me ask you something what do you think those football players who’s season ends in 2 weeks because they’re terrible and they have had bad seasons or things haven’t worked out so well, what do you think they do for “fun” and in their “spare” time.

That’s right.

They are thinking about football, they are depressed and anxious for the next season to start they are looking for ways to practice, to play, to otherwise get better at what they do.

I just heard a story about Tom Brady where they said he has his life planned out 3 years in advanced, knows what he’s going to be doing, where he’s going to be, generally in every sense of the word.

Do you know what he does in his spare time, thinks about football.

Do you know what he does for fun, plays football.

Do you know what he wishes he could do more, football.

Why is that? Because that is what he does.

Of course you can have a more diverse life, more interesting hobbies, more things to fill up your spare time with if you want – that is – if you don’t want to win Super Bowls, be the top team in the league, and otherwise be one of the highest performers of all of his peers now and perhaps ever.

For my Birthday I would like to give you a gift…of permission to figure out exactly what you want your ideal life to be, what you want to be doing, so much so that you love enjoy and can’t wait to do more of it, that on your birthday all you want to do is wake up, get out of bed, and get out there on the playing field of your game you choose to play in life and WIN and WIN big.

Interestingly enough, that’s exactly what I will be doing and always do for my clients and the people visiting me in Nashville; which first begins with a phone consultation.

I will be creating their life and business and designing it as they wish for it to be – so – they can follow my philosophy of true entrepreneurship.

That is this –

Done right, every day should be your birthday.

Why celebrate once a year when you can arrange your life and business in a way that lets you celebrate YOUR EVERY-DAYS not just the one you were birthed on.

Go out and enjoy, build a business that excites you so much you can’t wait to wake up and get back to work, and put yourself in a position to have all that you deserve and desire and pursue your grandest ambitions in life and go at them with all you’ve got. Maybe Happy Birthday it is, to me, but to all of us, it’s just another HAPPY To-Day!
