The Secret to Being a Rock Star…

A few weeks ago in one of my Private Coaching Session, with a real life Rock Star, we were discussing his preparation for making a big break with his career.  That the time is now for going all out, and in essence going it alone.  He’s got the success, the track record, and all of that – for now, I’ll not disclose who he is, although it wouldn’t be hard to figure it out… still You’d underestimate his career accomplishments to date simply for a lack of marketing presence, which is obviously where I come in.

In our discussion I ask him what he thought was the BIG Secret to making it BIG, and how others got their got their start which he’ll be emulating on business principles so to speak.

His answer without hesitation was – “You have to look like you’re already there!”

Now, stop, go back, and reread that sentence.  Because it’s more profound than on the surface of those 8 words – “You have to look like you’re already there.”

He’s dead on, not just for his business and success, but for yours too.

And, of course “look” is the giveaway here, because it translates to look, feel, act, BE, as if you’re already there.  Already where you want to be. Not even Simon Cowell can MAKE an artist, unless they are one.

So, on to business, this is everything.  Brian Tracy says, “you become what you think about most” which I think he got the premise from Earl Nightingale.  I learned a saying in high school, I’m not sure who from, but “fake it til you make it”.

Let me make this very clear.  No one wants to go to the restaurant “trying to be good”, they want to go to the place that already is good.  And boy oh boy appearances really do matter, don’t they.

When I got my first ‘high dollar’ (at the time) client, I immediately went out and bought a Lexus, had to do it, because I needed the look the part.  Now, there’s enough other stuff around me and no need for new clients, I could take the frugal wealth appearance approach and be fine.

Back to my Rock Star coaching member, he and his wife both emphasized that people want him to BE the Rock Star and that he’s always got to be performing, ESPECIALLY when he’s not on stage.

People want the experience; they want you to be the best, biggest, baddest: choice, option, service, business, person so they can share stories about you, tell people about you, and feel better about themselves because of You.

If you really want to make it big and sustain success, you’ve got to be a Rock Star in your business and for your customers.

It’s starts, not ends, but starts with you creating, living, perceiving, believing, acting, and BEING as though you are already where you want to be.
